For the record, Kansas City journalist Dave Helling is a legendary reporter who remains one of the most trusted sources for information in the metro even after retiring for a career that spanned more than 40 years.
Whilst we've been talking about trending socialism on this blog for about a month, locals news outlets have been too scared to broach the topic despite a handful of popular local candidates running on the platform of Democratic Socialism.
And so . . . Thankfully, Mr. Helling shares his critique and this quote stands out and deserves further consideration . . . Check-it:
"Are free buses more “socialist” than billions in public money for a football stadium? Are tax abatements and incentives part of a free market, or big-business socialism? Public involvement in private enterprise is popular for Democrats and Republicans."
