With so many VERY POWERFUL POLITICOS in this town: Nobody had the juice to make a decent offer to CostCo and save a biz that serves tens of thousands of locals???
This tragic fact of life kind of speaks to how little influence local politicos have in the real world.

"A controversial proposal to transform Kansas City's Midtown Costco into a business-focused warehouse is moving forward after receiving a key approval from city leaders. The Kansas City Planning and Zoning Commission voted Thursday to approve plans to convert the Costco at Linwood Boulevard and Main Street into a Costco Business Center. The proposal now heads to the Kansas City Council for final consideration. The vote comes weeks after city leaders publicly urged Costco to preserve grocery access, pharmacy services and jobs at the Midtown location."
