Kansas City Mayor Q Declares Victory Against Crime Again

A recent statement from 12th & Oak offers hope for the remainder of the Summer and a bit of a flex that deserves skepticism.

For the past few years KCMO has defied nationwide crime trends that have been edging downwards.

Just . . . Just for the sake of snark . . .

SHOULD MAYOR Q GIVE CREDIT TO MAGA CRIME FIGHTING EFFORTS?!?

 Either way . . . We hope that locals can build upon the progress and remember . . .

The second half of the year is ALWAYS the most violent in Kansas City.

For now, we check the pronouncement and more reporting . . .  

"As of today, homicides are down 26 percent compared to this time last year in Kansas City."

Bigger picture . . . 

"Data collected from 30 American cities showed an 18% decrease in the homicide rate from 2025 compared to the same period in 2026, translating to about 215 fewer homicides this year, according to a new report from the independent Council on Criminal Justice.

"Should the trend continue, it would push the annual homicide rate to the lowest levels in over a century once final numbers are released at the end of the year . . .

"Experts say the broadly positive changes are exceeding expectations, improving on baseline crime rates from before 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought historic surges in violence. "
