The City of Kansas City sent the following statement on the issue:
"The owner of Olive Park Apartments is responsible for securing, maintaining, and protecting the property. This order includes preventing unauthorized access, addressing unsafe conditions and ensuring the property does not create ongoing public health or public safety hazards for the surrounding neighborhood.
'The City, including the Public Safety Task Force, will continue to respond to complaints regarding the property and will pursue appropriate enforcement or other actions where necessary. Part of that effort includes demolishing a building that was left with significant structural instability after a previous fire."

Kansas City firefighters responded to another fire at Olive Park Village apartments early Tuesday, the latest in a string of nearly two dozen fires at the vacant complex this year alone.
