On July 5, 2026, Elon Musk posted this statement on X during a highly patriotic Fourth of July America 250 holiday weekend. He wrote it in direct response to a social media post by Los Angeles political candidate Spencer Pratt, who had stated it was "OK to love America." Musk strongly disagreed with the mild phrasing, arguing that patriotism should be an absolute requirement.
Here are the words . . .
Not merely “ok”. Anyone who doesn’t love America is a traitor and beneath contempt. Those who don’t love America, those who are disloyal, should be exiled immediately.
To which Kansas City's leading Democratic Party supporter Jason Kander wrote and said this . . .
"Patriotism and nationalism are not the same, and asking your country to be better IS an act of patriotism."
