Chastain Petition Challenges Kansas City Government Transparency

From a friend of the blog and a more recent photo he sent our way . . .

KANSAS CITY'S LONGTIME ACTIVIST CHALLENGES LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO LET PEOPLE VOTE ON HIS TRANSIT PLAN!!!

Here's a quick description of his reports that were filed today . . .

Clay Chastain Press Release: City Hall will Reveal itself: Is City Hall an honest, open Government?

Is City Hall going to block the People from voting on a *Green Transportation Initiative* that could become one of the greatest urban revitalization success stories in the modern era? Is City Hall going to block the People from voting on a $2 billion Downtown Stadium that would be located right in the heart of the City & require taxpayer support? Is City Hall going to deny the People their right to Self-determination...a vote to decide the course of their City's future?

If history be our truth teller, City Hall will either act like a wet dish rag (limp & lifeless) and the Council will take no action on the Petitions, or it will delay a vote by assigning the Petitions to a meaningless Committee, or Mayor Lucas & the City Council will seek a court ruling (another delay tactic) falsely alleging the Petitions are facially-unconstitutional. Of course, our transparent & smooth-talking Mayor may also try to flimflam the Media & Community by falsely claiming both Petitions are flawed & without merit, causing interference & don't deserve to be placed before voters.

Mayor Lucas: KC Voters long ago empowered themselves with the Democratic Petition Process to go around an inept or corrupt Gov't. when necessary. Hence, the many thousand voters who signed the Petitions don't care what your opinion is or that of a (rigged) City "Committee". City Hall's opinion of the Petitions is irrelevant. Today, City Hall elected officials must follow the law, listen to the People & vote to place 2-Valid Petition Ordinances on the Nov. Ballot (as mandated by the People). This will 'Reveal' that City Hall understands it is neither above the law nor above the interest of the People.
