A chance encounter at a local diner offers insight into the silly machinations of Missouri Democrats.
For TKC, the highlight of this top photo is Rep. Ashley Aune striking a pose because she knows her bipartisan pizza party meetup is unsavory to BOTH sides of the aisle.

LOSING MISSOURI DEMS LOOK TO BOOST RINOS AMID CONSTANT KANSAS CITY NORTHLAND FAIL!!!
Thankfully, insiders share even more expert perspective with our blog community . . .
Platte County – The "Nicer" Side of the Bridge – Is Serving More Drama Than Any Sleepy Bedroom Community Ever Should
You’d think being on the nicer side of the bridge – with the newer subdivisions, lower crime stats, and that coveted Northland quality of life – would mean Platte County could keep things chill. A quiet, growing bedroom community where families escape the chaos of KCMO. But no. This place is cooking with more backroom drama, whispering campaigns, and strange bedfellows than a Housewives reunion episode.
And right now, the hottest mess involves a coordinated crew of Democrats openly boosting RINOs to keep their thumb on the scale in one of Missouri’s fastest-growing counties.
The known Democratic players pushing the script
Ashley Aune – The Missouri House Minority Floor Leader from nearby District 14, never one to miss a chance to advance the party line, whether in Jefferson City or across the river. She does more than look good in a sweater, she is the powerplayer calling the shots north of the River.
Mary McKenna – Democratic candidate for Platte County Presiding Commissioner, campaigning hard on “transparency” while the machine hums along behind the scenes. She at least has the guts to be a D in a Republican county.
These folks know Platte County isn’t flipping blue anytime soon. So instead of fighting fair, the strategy is clear: elevate friendly “Republicans” who won’t make waves.
Now here's where it gets interesting. The other power players enjoying some Stone Canyon Pizza in downtown Parkville?
Melissa Moran – This pretty much confirms what everyone in the know in Platte County assumed about her (POLITICAL) motives. A few years ago she came out of nowhere to run as Republican for Commissioner but lost badly which caused her to realize she needed to cozy up and weasel her way into the Republican Federated Women's Committee. Why? We can only speculate that it was part of her plan to get Democrats elected as RINOs by controlling a powerful group of conservative activists.
The “Republicans getting the help from these hard core Democrats?
Kevin Robinson – The longtime Platte County Auditor who wears the Republican label but has mastered the art of staying comfortable in power while county government expands.
Dale Brouk – Real estate developer with deep connections to the County Economic Development Council. TKC readers know the EDC types love giving money away and they know they need to flip the Commission to make tax deals easier.
When big development decisions come up, having someone like “Data Center Dale” in the mix is exactly what the labor and Democrat leaders want – cooperative, connected, and not exactly burning with conservative fire.
Who's not in this picture? The other independents aligned with Aune: Holly Cayer, Chris Kendall. Also missing is County Clerk Jera Pruitt who is rumored to be tight with Melissa Moran and is probably the reason why Moran thinks her strategy can win since Pruitt could be considered Moran's first RINO win back in 2022.
Why All the Drama in Pleasantville?
Platte County should be boring in the best way: good schools, new homes, people commuting to the city but living the suburban dream. Instead, it’s become ground zero for this weird infiltration play.
Democrats understand they can’t dominate outright, so they’re propping up RINOs who talk conservative on the campaign trail but deliver “bipartisan” results on taxes, spending, and growth policies that keep the right people happy. It’s not a conspiracy theory when the coordination is this obvious – shared events, quiet endorsements, soft media treatment for the compliant ones, and the cold shoulder for anyone too MAGA or America First.
The old adage that a picture is worth a 1000 words couldn't be more true here. Nothing screams BUSTED more than the guilty looks on this motley crew.
Platte County voters have to ask themselves. Is this just politics as usual, or has the nicer side of the bridge officially gone full soap opera? Do they really want to turn into a full time circus like south of the River?
