Political Crisis Confronts Jackson County Sheriff Forté Over New Jail Fiasco

Over the course of his career Sheriff Forté has garnered support from powerful allies but never really developed connections beyond more popular benefactors.

The Sheriff has be a stable force in law enforcement leadership but doesn't really have an organized political network backing him up.

And all of this begs the question . . .

WILL JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF FORTÉ TAKE THE FALL FOR NEW JAIL FAIL?!?!?

The odds don't favor his unscathed survival given that legislators are looking at upcoming elections and want to distance themselves from an obvious disaster.

And all of this provides more context than today's newspaper reporting . . .

"Jackson County legislators have again postponed action on an ordinance aimed at improving living conditions in the county’s new detention center. The measure has been delayed for months due to ongoing disputes between the Legislature and Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté over who has authority over the jail. This includes objections from Forté about provisions included in the ordinance that would create a grievance and accountability process."
