Overnight Kansas City Double Shooting Kills Man & Youngster

Kansas City summer violence continues to surge amid the World Cup and over the past two weeks our local homicide count is nearing double digits despite claims of progress over last year.

Here is the latest report police are sharing with local media . . . 

Homicide 9200 block of Old Santa Fe

Just after 1030PM, officers were dispatched to the 9200 block of Old Santa Fe Rd. on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying in a parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot trauma and unresponsive. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital. That male was declared deceased at the hospital. An additional juvenile male under 16 arrived to an area hospital by private conveyance and was declared deceased by medical personnel. 

There is not currently any preliminary information that indicates what lead up to the shooting at this time. 

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. Detectives are working on identifying a person of interest and no one is currently in police custody. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
