Context on this post . . . Jess Piper is a top ranking exec amongst Missouri Democratic Party leaders and recently she has garnered EPIC attention of FB for her ranting about rising socialism.
Our TKC take . . .
We didn't think that Missouri Dems would be able to discover how the effectively throw away midterm momentum across the nation but marching under the red banner of the DSA and NYC Mayor Mamdani is the only thing CERTAIN to turn away most Show-Me State voters at a time when the electorate is open to options beyond their myopic Republican-super-majority leadership that's currently blowing a hole through the state's budget.
Here's a quote from her screed and a link for those who haven't seen it already . . .
"In Missouri, we haven’t seen progress in decades, but the regression is around every corner. And nothing will get better without the big ideas I am seeing in the new politicians across the country."I am going to write something scary to some — the politicians I am talking about are Democratic Socialists, and I am supposed to be scared of them and their ideas. I am supposed to believe that I am in the big tent party while thinking progressives are too far left. I am supposed to link the term “socialism” to “communism.” I am supposed to be repulsed by the very idea of socialism, even if the word “Democratic” precedes it.
"I’m not.
"Can you imagine trying to scare me with the term “Democratic Socialist” while I live under a GOP supermajority that would literally sign my death warrant to force a pregnancy? They have defunded my daughter’s school. They have defunded our roads and healthcare and services. They silence our vote. They cheat and gerrymander. They have unapologetically imposed authoritarianism for two decades.
"I am not scared of Democratic socialism because I have lived under a Republican-dominated legislature for over two decades. I have nothing to fear from the word socialism . . ."
