KCPD Take Teen Into Custody After Deadly South Side Shooting

Rising "youth violence" seems to be trending at the outset of Kansas City summer break . . . Here's the today's homicide update AND the latest report that police share with local media . . . Check-it: 

Homicide 5700 block of Forest

This morning just after 11:15AM, officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Forest Ave. on a reported shooting. 

Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim lying on the front porch of a residence suffering from gunshot trauma. Responding officers immediately rendered medical aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. The victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Preliminary investigation indicates an interaction took place inside of the residence between family members. The interaction escalated into gunfire resulting in the victim being struck. A juvenile male under 16 was taken into custody for further investigation. We are not searching for any additional suspects at this time. 

Homicide detectives and crime scene have responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
