KCPD Hear Gunfire That Killed Woman During Domestic Violence Assault

Homicide 2800 block of E 6th-LATE DEATH

This evening just after 6:15PM Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of E 6th on a reported DV Disturbance.

Upon arrival, a group of individuals directed officers to a residence advising an adult female was being assaulted. Officers could hear sounds of a disturbance coming from inside of the home followed by multiple sounds of gunshots. Officers made entry into the home where they located an adult female victim suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. The victim was transported to an area hospital by EMS. After several hours of medical intervention, hospital staff notified detectives the victim had succumb to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased around 7:50PM.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the adult male and adult female were involved in an argument before it escalated into a physical disturbance. The relationship between the male and female is not currently known at this time. An adult male subject was located inside of the residence and was taken into custody for further investigation. 

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin collecting any evidence and gathering witness statement statements. detectives are not currently seeking any additional persons of interest. This incident is being investigated as a Homicide and it is currently ongoing.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through the use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
