Collected here is just some of the reporting on World Cup impacts on our city. While leaders brag about being a “world class city,” in actuality, they are stripping our resources from us so that FIFA can have its way with our home.
It reveals a classic pattern of extraction where power is leveraged for the benefit of the few by taking from the many. Just like with the billionaire ballpark, our new jail, and our underfunded transit system, city decision makers are selling us out: allowing our homes and our resources to be extracted for the faux prestige ascribed by hosting World Cup games.
