A former Kansas state employee is suing over her termination after she posted "well deserved" on social media about conservative activist Charlie Kirk's death.
The employee claims she was fired in violation of her free speech rights, while the state argues she voluntarily resigned.
A federal jury trial is scheduled for March 2027, though the case could be resolved earlier by summary judgment.
She is seeking reinstatement, lost wages, and $6 million in damages for emotional distress and punitive damages.
