Instead, our second favorite progressive newsies push a sketchy local effort that highlights racial identity over neighborhood unity.
The Kansas City neighborhood subtext that nobody, especially our progressive pals, don't like to talk about . . . KCMO Black merchants mistakenly see direct competition with their immigrant neighbors and attempt to leverage identity and politics to overcome this gap. A close look at the effort can sense the hostility. Again, our progressive pals are happy to push the local divisions in the name of sociological ethnography and urban exploring rather than identify divisive issues that only serve to keep most consumers away.
