Kansas City Vacant Shopping Center Burns

One more peek at the cowtown death of retail . . . 

Heavy smoke was coming from the vacant former Robandee Shopping Center when crews arrived. The fire was determined to be confined to the building’s exterior and roof.

By 8:12 it was under control, KCFD said, though crews were still on scene just before 9 p.m. to extinguish hot spots.

Fire at vacant shopping center under investigation by Kansas City Fire Department

KCFD said crews were dispatched to the area of Bannister Road and James A. Reed Road at 7:42 p.m.
