Mayor Quinton Lucas said he remains confident in the safety measures in place for the World Cup and praised law enforcement's response.

"In many ways, I see this as a somewhat regular law enforcement incident," Lucas said. "I'm proud of the quick work they did. This is still a major American city, we continue to have incidents."

Lucas said the investigation should reassure residents and visitors attending World Cup events.

"I think all can be safe, can feel safe at all the incidents that we have around Kansas City," Mayor Lucas said.
