Kansas City Illegal Fireworks Season Sparks Residential Inferno Trend

Tonight we start with "context" that local news is too afraid to report and social media denizens are far to clueless to convey accurately . . .

Here's what happens every summer Kansas City without much/any control from police or politicos.

Fireworks are illegal in Kansas City proper and for most of our suburban neighbors. However, NOBODY CARES about these laws and they're not really enforced in the name of patriotism and expediency.

This time around . . .

ILLEGAL FIREWORKS SPARK RESIDENTIAL FIRES ACROSS THE KANSAS CITY METRO WHILST HEAT WARNINGS, WORLD CUP VISITORS & SURGING VIOLENCE MAKE THE SITUATION EVEN MORE DANGEROUS!!!

Our thesis . . .

Very real danger from illegal fireworks during a heat warning DOESN'T FIT our world cup narrative but it's a reality and a beloved a local scumbag tradition that Kansas City residents know about about all to well.

And so we're blogging the start of this story until local grandparents begin their complaints a bit before the 4th when we all play our favorite KCMO GAME for the first week of July:

"Was that gunfire or illegal fireworks???"

Check our notes . . .

"A fire at an Olathe home this past weekend was caused by fireworks, according to the Olathe Fire Department.

"Sunday at about 7:30 p.m., firefighters battled a fire at one side of a duplex-style home on East 152nd Street. The fire department said damage to the duplex is significant; however, crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to the other duplex."
