Kansas City Downtown Council Desperately Seeking Sucker To Operate Barney Allis Cafe

Many locals might not remember that a fight involving an angry hobo resulted in a fatality back in 2018 and since that time KCMO has attempted to not only renew Barney Allis Plaza but also keep it devoid of any downtown foot traffic.

However . . .

Following the parking upgrade . . . The Downtown Council thinks it's a great place to sell pricey sandwiches, pastries and coffee.

Never mind that downtown is actually a slightly rougher place since the pandemic and this kind of walk-up operation comes with a great deal of risk . . . Of course, we're obliged to share the more optimistic update:

"Located at the center of a rapidly growing and evolving Downtown Kansas City, Barney Allis Plaza will serve as a premier destination for residents, office workers, convention attendees, hotel guests, and visitors alike. The Plaza sits adjacent to the Kansas City Convention Center, Municipal Auditorium, Power & Light District, and a growing residential population that now exceeds 33,000 residents living in and around Greater Downtown."
