We're pulling this note out of a recent compilation after getting more info and a brief perspective . . .

The headline . . .

For context . . .

The population of the city of Dallas is approximately 1.33 million people.

The population of Philadelphia is approximately 1.57 million.

The population of Kansas City, Missouri is approximately 523,000.

Here's a quick breakdown as of Thursday night . . .

And so wanted to offer a bit more documentation with info that KCPD is sharing with local media tonight:

Homicide 9400 Block of Cleveland

This afternoon at 4:45 pm officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 9400 block of Cleveland on a shooting call.

On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive in the parking lot. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over. EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased from his injuries.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene investigators have responded and begun a homicide investigation.

Detectives are canvassing for any witnesses and talking to people who were at the scene when officers arrived. Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

Preliminary information indicates that the victim and another person were inside an apartment at the location here when they became involved in an argument. That argument transitioned to the parking lot where additional people arrived and joined in. The argument escalated to gunfire which struck the victim. The suspect(s) then left the scene in an unknown direction.

If anyone was in this area of the apartment and heard or saw anything or has any information, and has not yet talked to police, they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
