KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FEAR UPCOMING BODY CAMERA CRISIS & TECH TROUBLE THAT OTHER TOWNS HAVE ENDURED!!!

 Actually . . .

The problems are even more pronounced than most politicos understand and there's a low-key effort to hit pause on this sale . . . Here's a breakdown of issues sent our way and even better reporting . . .

Common issues with Motorola WatchGuard (including the 4RE in-car systems and VISTA body-worn cameras) typically revolve around video file transfers, camera communication, and server/software conflicts. The most prevalent problems include:

Video Transfer and Data Loss

Incomplete Uploads: Videos may fail to transfer completely from upload servers to the central storage servers. This requires investigating the network connection or using diagnostic scripts provided by Motorola Solutions to catch failed transfers within 72 hours.

Server Compatibility: Upgrading to certain server environments (such as Windows Server 2025) is incompatible with Motorola Evidence Library 4 and can remove necessary security features.

Camera Communication ErrorsDVR Errors: In-car systems frequently display error codes like 178, 179, 300, or 302, which indicate that the DVR has lost communication with the front or secondary cameras.

Network/Wi-Fi Drops: The Wi-Fi Base or camera may lose connection to the server. Users on community forums suggest this is often related to the Smart POE Switch. Power cycling the POE components or resetting the wireless radio (unplugging Ethernet cables for 5 seconds) can often restore data transmission.

Hardware & Docking Issues

VISTA Body-Worn Camera: Common physical issues include the unit not holding a charge, failing to power on, or lacking audio.

Pano Camera Malfunctions: A blue screen on a Pano camera usually points to a bad cable or a known hardware defect from certain 2023 manufacturing batches.
