Firefighters Accuse Kansas City Of Contempt

As we approach election season and a critical juncture for KCMO public safety, we need to take a close look at how 12th & Oak works (and doesn't) to honor frontline workers.

Sent our way by AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS . . .

CHECK KANSAS CITY FAILING TO LIVE UP TO AGREEMENTS WITH FIREFIGHTERS!!!

Here's the summary:

"IAFF Local 42 has filed a motion for civil contempt against the City of Kansas City for failing to implement a court-confirmed arbitration award regarding EMS Captain positions. The union demands the City honor the award, which requires assigning training roles to bargaining unit members and providing back pay, following the dismissal of the City's appeal for missing a filing deadline."

Accordingly . . .

Sure, this note is probably inside baseball and the intricacies of collective bargaining agreements might not move the dial for all but the most diehard news junkies . . . HOWEVER . . . This dispute offers a very important look at how 12th & Oak often lets down the most dedicated first responders on the front lines.

Here's the word and more info . . .

"This case is about whether a negotiated contract, a binding arbitration award, and a court judgment mean what they say," said Daniel Heizman, President of IAFF Local 42. "Local 42 followed the process, won at arbitration, won in court, and is now asking the Court to enforce what our members have already won."
