A dire glimpse at a city to the East . . .

CENSUS NUMBERS REVEAL INDEPENDENCE LOSING POPULATION!!!

The numbers get more dire when we consider that everybody around them is gaining . . .

Even Raytown is holding steady and NOBODY wants to live in Raytown. 

 Brief aside . . . 

This is an Independence problem . . . We wanted to cast stones at living in the sticks in general but places like Grain Valley are also picking up population. So we leave it to readers to draw their own conclusions.

"The U.S. Census Bureau released its five-year population change data this month, tracking expansion and decay across every town and city in the county. 

"Independence’s population on the decline According to the bureau’s report, 

"Independence lost about 1% of its population between 2020 and 2025. About 1,200 fewer people lived in the city in 2025 than five years prior, representing a decline from 122,866 people in 2020 to 121,675 in 2025."
