Sadly, this is another indicator of a busted economy for those of us on the low-end . . .

"Police said the dogs were left inside a home by renters who “simply vanished.” The department said it’s unclear exactly how long the dogs were alone, but it was long enough that the animals had begun chewing and eating parts of the home’s walls.

"KCKPD’s stressed the situation is part of a broader problem tied to pet ownership, including people not spaying or neutering pets, abandoning animals and assuming someone else will step in to help."
