Sorry, Private Security Schemes Can't Save Kansas City

Politicos and local biz offer this quick fix that won't work because we've seen it FAIL in bigger and better cities across the nation . . .

Of course, private security isn't a bad thing and last year locals even hoped that armed guards would help revive the Country Club Plaza but that hasn't worked because . . . To paraphrase Eisenhower total security is tantamount to prison and, like it or not, what we're really talking about is a clash of cultures and not really a security/policing problem.

Moreover . . . As many readers have pointed out . . . NONE OF THIS can be fixed by Mayor Q blaming absentee parking lot owners or any of his other political rivals.

Ultimately, IF communities don't want to obey the law and uphold some modicum of safety of their own accord THEN chaos follows and securing even the most basic economic activity or public event becomes a challenge.

Which option is Kansas City closer to right now?!?

Here's a hint . . .

"Contracted security guards began patrolling Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District on Wednesday night as part of a monthslong effort to improve public safety.

"The launch of the security guards came the same day as popular 24-hour restaurant Town Topic announced it would start closing at 8 p.m. because of safety concerns for its employees and customers."
