KCPD Investigate After Car Runs Off Road & Victim Shot Dead

Overall . . . Kansas City homicides are down 22% vs. last year . . . However, the trend we're noticing is a consistent uptick in deadly gunfire almost every weekend.

Here's info on the latest local killing and details that police are sharing with local media . . . 

Homicide 63rd and Beacon

This morning, just before 1:15 AM, officers were dispatched to the area of 63rd and Manchester on a reported sound of shots.

While in route officers received updated information of a vehicle accident in the area of 63rd and Beacon. As officers arrived to 63rd and Beacon they located a vehicle off the roadway. Inside they discovered an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. KCFD EMS arrived simultaneously and began performing life saving measures. Medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide and there is no one in custody. Detectives are working to determine what led up to shots being fired and the victim being struck. Investigators and crime scene personnel are on scene canvassing for witnesses, physical evidence, and any available surveillance footage.
