KCPD Hope Neighbors Speak Up After Deadly River Market Shooting

Saturday morning gunfire proves deadly as police count what is likely the 41st homicide so far this year compared to 52 at this date on the calendar in 2025.

Here's the info and context police share with local media following the incident just a few blocks away from a longtime local destination . . .  

Homicide 4th and Holmes 

This morning about 6:51 officers were dispatched to 4th and Holmes on a shooting call. 

On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive in the street. 

Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over aid.

EMS transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased.

Homicide detectives are at the scene now and have begun a homicide investigation. They are canvassing for witnesses. Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in the street at that location when he had an interaction with one or more suspects in a vehicle there. That interaction escalated to gunfire that struck the victim.

There are many apartment residences here close by so detectives are optimistic that someone heard or saw something.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
