Several school districts in Johnson County, Kansas, are joining forces to pursue litigation against the state for its "continued failure" to address public school funding and special education funding issues. Blue Valley Schools, De Soto School District, Olathe Public Schools and Shawnee Mission School District signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the "Kansas Public School Funding Coalition." The four schools, which represent more than 80,000 students, are coming together to secure legal counsel to pursue litigation against Kansas after reaching a "tipping point" due to years of financial burden.

Faced with parental concern over persistently low student outcomes, school administrators in many of the larger districts file suit, blaming poor outcomes on inadequate funding. After that suit is settled and the Court gives them a big funding increase, school administrators in many of the larger districts file another suit, blaming poor outcomes on inadequate funding. Rinse and repeat."
