"Tarps Off" is the Cardinals newest rallying cry amidst their surprisingly good season. Taken from a college football trend that started at Oklahoma State with a fan in an empty section of the stadium, during Friday night's game against the Royals, a group of out of state players from the Stephen F. Austin State University club baseball team took off their shirts and started waving them over their heads like rally towels.
The trend quickly caught on in the right outfield of Busch Stadium and before long, hundreds of Cardinals fans — mostly young male fans — had taken their shirts off and were cheering and chanting during play. The Cardinals ended up winning Friday night's game with an extra-inning walk off against the Royals, cementing the movement as the team's new rallying cry.
