University of Missouri-Kansas City economic Dr. Sirisha Naidu said rising crude oil prices affect nearly every corner of the economy because so many everyday products rely on petroleum.

“The world economy depends on gas, right? Not just to drive cars, but for so many things that we rely on, sometimes we don't even think of,” Naidu said.
