The ALLEGED use of Kansas City resources for a congressional campaign has inspired a midtown council dude to openly criticize his conservative colleague from the nicer side of the bridge and demand further investigation.
Spoiler alert . . . Nothing but a social media blast will come of it.
However . . . Despite the Northland political divide for KCMO conservatives . . . It remains a rarity for council members to openly criticize one another and pathological politeness remains the standard way of conducting business at 12th & Oak.
Accordingly . . .
ERIC BUNCH CALLING OUT DISTRICT ONE COUNCILMAN WILLETT OFFERS A PEEK AT KCMO'S WORSENING PARTISAN DIVIDE!!!
Actually . . .
We're kinda hoping the motivation for this missive plain old jealousy . . . Willett has a puncher's chance at winning a congressional seat whilst Bunch couldn't get elected to dog catcher if he tired with all of is might.
And so . . . We trust TKC readers to do the rest of the calculations now that we've laid out the basics.
Here's the money lines for the social media post penned late last night . . .
"The inappropriate and unauthorized use of the 4th District mailing list by 1st District Councilman Nathan Willett has come to the attention of my office. I sincerely apologize for both the politically charged content of the message and the confusion it has caused for many of our residents.
"Councilman Willett's usage of our mailing list and others for a divisive statement was not only inappropriate, but was against our internal administrative regulations pertaining to approved communications - something of which he has been warned of following previous misuse. His selective use of certain district lists raises serious concerns about the line between public service and other political activities.
"Residents sign up for council communications with the expectation that their information will be safeguarded and used to keep them informed about city services, neighborhood issues, and official government business. The use of public-facing communication infrastructure to make political statements undermines public trust in local government."
