The local news story that inspired this post is about a couple hoping to beat the odds and it's harrowing and tugs at heartstrings.

However . . .

The most important deets revealed in this latest report show AN EPIC UPTICK IN KANSAS CITY LA MIGRA ROUNDUPS AHEAD OF THE WORLD CUP!!!

Here's the passage that stood out . . .

Of those ICE arrests in the Kansas City metro under President Donald Trump, 45% had pending criminal charges, 40% had prior criminal convictions, and 15% had no criminal history — arrested solely for immigration violations.

Two contested ICE detention facilities have since met different fates. The City of Leavenworth granted CoreCivic a special use permit to hold ICE detainees at its Midwest Regional Reception Center. Meanwhile, Platform Ventures pulled out of a deal with the federal government to sell its South Kansas City warehouse — a site reportedly intended to hold at least 7,500 ICE detainees.

Kansas City’s immigration court is also undergoing change. Three new immigration judges — two of them former military attorneys — have joined the bench, bringing the total to six. Together, they face a backlog of roughly 50,000 cases.
