The American Hotel and Lodging Association released an outlook report for the United States ahead of the World Cup, stating that “hotel demand is tracking below expectations” across most U.S. host markets, despite more than 5 million tickets being sold.

The AHLA report stated that Kansas City has emerged as the most negatively impacted host market in the survey.

Nearly 80% of hotels surveyed by a body representing the industry reported bookings were running below projections - a worrisome sign with only weeks to go before the World Cup.
