The second killing over Memorial Day weekend . . . Here's the report that police share with local media:
Homicide 1800 Block of E. Front St
Tonight about 11:45pm officers were dispatched to 1800 block of E Front St on a shooting call.
On arrival officers were directed to the parking garage where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive near a vehicle in the lot there.
Officers rendered aid and summoned EMS to the scene. EMS responded and transported the victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
At the hospital the victim was declared deceased.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have responded to the scene for investigation and evidence collection.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was with a group of people in the parking lot/garage when they had contact with another group of people. That contact escalated into an altercation which resulted in gunfire that struck the victim.
The suspect or suspects then left the scene in an unknown direction away from the parking lot.
Indication is this is an isolated incident located in the parking lot and there was no disruption to operations at the casino business there.
If anyone was in this area of the parking lot and heard or saw anything or has any information, and has not yet talked to police, they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
