Scooter Crash Kills Independence Toddler

Metro tragedy postscript and more info for parents concerned about dangerous traffic this Summer . . . 

"According to police, the crash occurred as a Cadillac was backing out of a parking space at the Hawthorne Place Apartments on Concord Circle in Independence around 2:15 p.m. While the car was backing out, it hit the two-year-old on a scooter when it came into the vehicle’s path.

"The Independence Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.

"The child was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and died shortly after."
