Police Endure Gunfight With Suspect In Northeast Kansas City

Aftermath update that concludes another dangerous weekend on local streets.

"According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol press release Sunday night, KCPD officers responded around 7:50 p.m. on a call of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon in the 5700 block of St. John Avenue.

"As police responded, an MSHP spokesperson said officers were told of a potentially armed subject inside a vehicle inside of a residence at the address.

"The spokesperson said when officers contacted the subject in the vehicle around 7:56 p.m., the subject fled from officers and ran toward the front porch of a residence, where the male subject allegedly opened fire on officers.

"Officers opened fire and struck the subject."
