LeVota Opts Out Of Jackson County Executive Reelection Bid

Tonight we consider a quick reversal of a previous reversal given overwhelming public pushback regarding a white lie AND an excuse that didn't really stand up to scrutiny . . . He's entitled to his own explanation but first something that deserves consideration . . .

This power move now puts activist Stacy Lake as front runner and there are plenty of local Dem leaders around who don't prefer that option.

After filing to run for Jackson County executive last month, just moments before the filing deadline, LeVota announced Friday that he will not pursue a full term in the upcoming Jackson County executive election.

“I did enter my name at the last minute of filing to allow me more time to decide on this important issue and I believe it is important to be transparent with the residents of Jackson County, my supporters, and the media about the reasons behind this choice,” he said in a news release on Friday.

Meanwhile . . . 

"A total of eight candidates have filed to run for Jackson County executive as the filing deadline closed Tuesday night. The race includes seven Democrats and one Republican, setting up a crowded primary ahead of the August election. "
