Kansas City Refuses To Contemplate Life Without E-Tax

As the low-turnout vote approaches . . . We notice tax fighters making their traditional plea.

This time around they offer and excellent point . . .  

WHY WON'T KANSAS CITY LEADERS EVEN CONSIDER LIFE WITHOUT THE E-TAX?!?!

Former Mayor Sly James was the last public official to even think about a substitution for the unpopular levy and he didn't make much progress beyond a few cursory statements. 

Again, as the vote moves closer . . . Here's more advocacy for thinking about another approach to local revenue . . . Check-it:  

"City leaders have no incentive to explore alternatives or discuss a 10-year phaseout of a tax widely acknowledged as harmful. Why? Because rather than demand better, the Star’s opinion class and business leaders reliably fold at the slightest scare tactic.

"Hand-wringing about Kansas City’s flawed tax structure is not enough. We need city leaders, including those at the Star, to live up to their principles. Otherwise, what is the point of having a platform?"
