Behind the scenes a NO VOTE stadium is nearly assured Mayor & Council seem prepared to overturn any petition that would put the plan to a public vote.
Even worse . . .
A council dude sympathetic to Mayor Q is now at the forefront of the petition effort in hopes that his "weaponized incompetence" will not only keep stadium supporters connected to any voter resistance but also thwart opponents from meeting their goals . . . Hint . . . This is the same dude who claims to be Black, White, Latino and possibly Chinese just to keep his bases covered.

KANSAS CITY WON'T BE TAKING NO FOR AN ANSWER WHEN IT COMES TO THE NEW DOWNTOWN STADIUM AT WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK!!!
In the time since the announcement, we've notice that only developers, politicos & social media bots are supporting the plan with fans offering only lukewarm support.
Again . . .
There's no grassroots support of the plan from neighbors as only the Downtown Council & Union Station have signaled support with their budgets almost completely connected to 12th & Oak.
And so . . .
Local news coverage is either celebratory or simply acknowledges that neither Mayor Q nor the Royals have offered to share any deets, accountability or even do as much a build a coalition of residents.
Here's a quick quote on the topic and even more reporting . . .
"Who will pay for it? It’s unclear. On Thursday, the Kansas City Council approved an ordinance authorizing City Manager Mario Vasquez to negotiate with the Royals a deal of up to $600 million, a major step towards securing a new stadium.
"But how much money the Royals, controlled by billionaire owner John Sherman, will pitch in is still an open question, because Sherman and the Royals have yet to announce it. What monies the state of Missouri and Jackson County might contribute, if the county contributes any, is also unclear.
"As for what the ballpark will look like: no official renderings have been released."
