To start, we want to share a few things to consider about this move . . .
First . . .
600 MILLION BUCKS is just the beginning and anyone who understands how 12th & Oak works will know that KCMO has dozens of ways to hide & reroute cash.
And then . . .
THINK ABOUT 600 MILLION BUCKS FOR BILLIONAIRE ADVENTURES WHEN A POTHOLE BENDS UR CAR'S AXLE!!!
Right now local streets are worse than even and, strangely, so many new obstacles and "road diets" aren't fixing the problem . . . And so . . . Even a quick cruise through midtown will reveal that KCMO has bigger prioritizes . . .
Brief aside . . .
It's also telling that, after years of debate, Mayor Q & Council couldn't elicit any partnership from Jackson County, local biz or even neighborhoods for this effort . . . This move seems to be a NO VOTE power play with very little opt-in.
Context . . .
As revenues decrease, a city hall hiring freeze continues, the budget remains structurally unbalanced and basically in deficit . . . KCMO somehow finds the cash for this giveaway . . .
And so, we share the overview, followup reporting and we welcome any and all responses from every side of the local political discourse . . .
