Kansas City Mayor Q Offers E-Tax Pitch Finale To Frustrated Voters

The ads have been clogging/spamming Instagram but they're fairly skip-able . . . Tonight, thanks to BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS . . . Here's a peek at mayor Q sharing his not-so-grand conclusion in a low-key economic fight for the city's future against no organized opposition . . . Other than all of your JoCo friends ranting about the unfairness of it all.

Even better . . .

The responses to Mayor Q's E-tax endorsement mostly trend negative in his era of Internets hateration and economic harsh times.

Here are a few of our faves . . .

Self-interested skepticism . . .

"There is no need for this tax. I know larger cities that provide more with no tax like this. I shouldn’t have to pay the tax due to not receiving any of the benefits."

Community mandate . . .

"It's a NOPE for me. Manage your budget."

Skeptical solutions . . .

"10 year ramp down to reign in irresponsible spending. Maybe charge a fee for your vanity train instead of a really sketchy tax for those adjacent to the rail line. Why should they pay for a system if they dont use it? We all know the answer - because you start charging for it, ridership goes down, and then where will you be?"

Assertions about equity . . .

"I’m sorry but this tax is incredibly regressive to those on the lower end of the income spectrum. Rich people can pay the 1% no problem, but poor people really need that money. I’m voting no, but would be for different taxes in different ways."

Conditional commentary . . .

"I’ll vote yes if you don’t pass the small bottle liquor ban."

Our favorite retort, marketing critique and then some . . .

"Love the ad. Voting no."

Check the ask for those who haven't seen it already . . .  . . .

"Please vote YES Tuesday (or still today) to ensure we can keep taking care of our neighbors, our workers, our roads, and our community."
