Kansas City Earnings Tax Revolt Threatens Mayor Q's Legacy

For many critics of Mayor Q, some of the most violent years that have occurred during his tenure evoke harsh critiques of his time in office.

However . . .

Losing the upcoming Kansas City E-Tax vote would offer yet another data point to tarnish the career of Mayor Q.

A few low-lights that quickly coming to mind . . .

- As we mentioned, at least three of the most deadly years recorded by KCPD homicide stats occurred under Mayor Q's tenure.

- With a lot of help from friends, he lost the Chiefs.

- The city's deficit and structurally unbalanced budget has worsened under his tenure.

And so . . .

Losing the E-tax might officially qualify him for this town's WORST MAYOR.

To be fair . . .

The E-tax seems to be polling along traditional votes, the upcoming low turnout contest doesn't have any organized opposition and voters seem to understand that removing the E-tax would further decimate the local economy over the course of 10 years.

More to the point . . . There's a tricky part of Kansas City culture that enjoys sticking it to JoCo neighbors who choose to do biz in KCMO but then retreat back to suburbs to enjoy relative safety.

And so, the E-tax "revolt" is mostly traditional social media ranting of our Overland Park corporate friends.

Accordingly . . .
