Kansas City Double Shooting Kills Woman Overnight

As the weather warms up there's an inevitable uptick in deadly local gun violence. 

Early this morning a fight amongst several people ended in gunfire and tragedy and what is likely KCMO's 30th homicide so far this year . . . Lower than 40 killings at this same time last year. 

Here's the report that police are sharing with local media . . .

Homicide 400 blk of Wallace 

This morning, just after 12:45 AM, patrol officers responded to the 400 block of Wallace on a reported shooting.

As officers arrived they were directed to the backyard of a residence on Wallace. There officers located an adult female victim suffering from a gunshot wound.  Officers immediately began performing live saving measures and ordered EMS to the scene. KCFD Medics responded and pronounced the victim deceased. While on scene an additional victim arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance. The adult male victim has injuries from a gunshot wound that are considered non life threatening.

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Preliminary information revealed there was an altercation between multiple people before shots were fired and the victims were struck. Detectives and crime scene personnel are on scene canvassing the area for witnesses, surveillance footage, and any available physical evidence.
