Kansas City Broadcasters Stay Winning Political Office?!?

That means two of Kansas City’s three U.S. reps might be ex-media figures. Emanuel Cleaver needs to learn how to do the weather, and fast.

Breaking news: Hartzel Gray and shock jock Randy Miller, both one-time local radio personalities, have filed to run against Alford in Missouri’s 4th District.

Mike Thompson, of course, did the weather for KCTV and WDAF, and now fumbles around in the Kansas Senate. Lily Wu, a former TV anchor, is the mayor of Wichita. 

This crowd of talking heads may seem like an accident, or a coincidence. It isn’t. The current political waters are just perfect for one-time reporters and anchors and chat show hosts who want to dip their toes in the electoral pond.
