For the second time this month, Governor Laura Kelly has vetoed a bill designed to bring property tax relief to Kansas under certain circumstances.
Earlier this month, Kansas lawmakers approved House Bill 2043, allowing people to file a protest petition if local governments aimed to raised property tax value by more than 3 percent.
Kelly announced her veto of the bill on Monday
“Knowing that legislators were anxious to tell their constituents they had done something to alleviate their property tax burden this session, I offered a three pronged, workable approach,” Kelly said in a statement.
