Not exactly . . .
Long, long ago the former KCMO political influencer was burned by former Mayor Funkhouser and the feet of the former first lady . . . And so he wisely gave up the unrewarding game of getting too chummy with the cowtown municipal set.
And so . . . Like every other retiree in Kansas City . . . He started a Substack.
Here's the thing . . .
We don't buy it . . . Only death silences locals who are drawn to the follies of 12th & Oak.
Inevitably . . . He'll have a post where he "just can't help" saying something related to a local hot mess.
And, interestingly, there are always seem to be very nice people who send word our way if the content is worthwhile.
For now, and just for Sunday, we offer encouragement of his new path and a peek at best intentions . . .
"On Gone Mild, I spent a lot of time trying to influence the politics of our city, county, state and country. There’s still a huge need for that attention, especially locally, but I’m not going to be that guy anymore. I believed in that work, and I’m mostly glad I did it. I also know that stepping away from it is a kind of privilege."
