Two separate votes moved the proposal forward, beginning with the City Council’s finance committee, where dozens of residents weighed in on whether the city should negotiate a deal for the stadium.
Shortly after the committee decision, the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Board also considered the proposal.
The board voted 5-0 to support negotiating a lease agreement with the team.
