Dire Straits: Euro Jet Fuel Crisis Dooms Kansas City World Cup?!?

Kansas City's favorite union busting Nazi sympathizer once told us that "It's a small world after all" and a global fuel crisis might prove him correct once again.

To wit . . .

Agree or disagree with MAGA strategy in dealing with Iran, there's no doubt that the conflict is having implications across the globe and it now seems very unlikely that the intense situation will be resolved and the consequences normalized in the 53 days before the World Cup starts in Kansas City.

And so . . .

As fuel shortages across the pond threaten local turnout . . . The question we now confront:

HOW MANY VISITORS WILL VENTURE TO KANSAS CITY IF EUROPE IS RUNNING OUT OF JET FUEL?!?

Local small biz will have to answer that one for themselves . . . Here's a couple of quotes and more reporting that provide context . . .

Europe has “maybe six weeks of jet fuel left,” Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency, told the Associated Press, adding flight cancellations could start “soon” if the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked.

Even with a peace deal, it could take “up to two years to come back where we were before the war,” Birol said.

Additionally . . . And what most American media politely overlooked . . .

DID THIS MF'ER JUST MAKE A THROWBACK DIRE STRAIGHTS REFERENCE?!?!

Here's more of his quote . . . If anybody can confirm . . . We're gonna have to write up another playlist.

"In the past there was a group called 'Dire Straits.' It's a dire strait now, and it is going to have major implications for the global economy. And the longer it goes, the worse it will be for the economic growth and inflation around the world," he told The Associated Press.

Just in case . . .

Check "Money For Nothing" as an anthem for all the cash that KC, Missouri & Kansas have spent that might now vanish in a wave of impending cowtown disappointment . . .
