A former KCMO council lady and leader of the formidable "Save The K" Group offers an important history lesson for local taxpayers and her experience merits consideration . . . Check-it:
"I want to make clear for the record that our position has not changed. TSC is the best location for both teams and taxpayers. A move will cost taxpayers more and will impact the ability to fund basic services by taking tax dollars that currently fund basic services and redirect them to funding construction of new stadiums. Further, it will impact other businesses whose increased taxes will be taken also. Additionally, the government entity will be on the hook for debt repayment in both cases, so any shortfall will have a negative effect as well.
"Aside from that, the pretty pictures are just that. The publicized percent share of public vs private funding will not stand, it never does in the end."
