Court Holds Individual Accountable After Threats of Political Violence Against Candidate Justice Horn

KANSAS CITY, MO. (April 23, 2026) – Justice Horn, candidate for Jackson County Legislature 1st District At-Large, issued the following statement today regarding the conclusion of a criminal case involving threats made against him . . . 

An individual who previously directed violent threats toward Justice Horn, including a threat of firearm violence, has entered a guilty plea in court. The conviction marks the formal resolution of the case and confirms the unlawful nature of the conduct.

“This case involved a credible and direct threat of political violence,” Horn said. “The outcome reflects accountability through the justice system and reinforces that threats of this nature are taken seriously by our movement of accountability.”

The individual was fined as part of the court’s judgment, and the conviction will remain on his record.

Horn added that the case highlights the importance of protecting individuals from intimidation and violence, particularly those running for public office.

“No one should face threats of violence because of their political beliefs or public role,” Horn said. “Disagreement is part of democracy. Violence and threats are not.”

Horn expressed appreciation for Blue Springs law enforcement and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his campaign focused on knocking doors and meeting folks where they’re at in Jackson County.

“I remain focused on the work ahead and on earning the support of the residents of this county,” Horn said.
